The Luangwa Valley, in Zambia, is one of Africa’s prime wildlife sanctuaries, with concentrations and varieties of game and birdlife that have made it world-famous. This valley lies at the tail end of the Great Rift Valley, the fault that runs from the Red Sea down the length of East Africa. This accounts for the amazing escarpment scenery in Eastern Africa as well as the African lakes. The countryside of the Luangwa Valley is spectacular in its rugged beauty and the vegetation thick. Near the Luangwa River a lush riverine forest occurs and remains green all year round. As a result of plentiful vegetation, there is an overabundance of hippo along the Luangwa River. Elephant, lion, leopard, Cape buffalo, and plentiful plains game are also found here in large numbers. Of interest are Thornicraft’s Giraffe, with white legs and faces, and the Crawshy’s Zebra, without the brownish “shadow stripe” of common Zebra, are both endemic to the park and easily spotted.
We have many varied places to stay in the Valley ranging from Luxurious Safari camps to budget chalets and camping. Most of the lodges are spread along the east bank of the Luangwa River. Most of our game drives and walking safaris are along the West bank, in the Park itself. Some of the lodges also have bush camps deep in the Park for clients that request extremely “remote” walking safaris.
At Livingstone, Zambia the mighty Zambezi plunges down in a mile wide curtain of water to create one of the most glorious spectacles on earth, the mighty Victoria Falls. This is Livingstone, Zambia’s shared natural heritage with her neighbor, Zimbabwe. The town was named after the famous explorer and missionary, David Livingstone who’s description of the Victoria Falls was quote ” scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight." From Livingstone our clients can explore the banks of the Zambezi River, walk through magnificent rainforests and take in the magnificent spectacle of the Victoria Falls.
We have lodges that cater to all our clients ranging from budget all the way to Luxury Private accommodations throughout Livingstone. For those that are adventurous we offer an array of activities ranging from Bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls bridge, canoe and horseback trails or white water rafting down the Batoka gorge to name a few.
